There's no place like home!
I've been sitting in different rooms of my house, just taking it all in. My appetite is pretty much back to normal, and I no longer have any food restrictions. I'm trying to gain back the 35 pounds I've lost over the past few months, but they warned me it would be a slow gradual process. I’m enjoying cooking more meals for myself although I appreciate the frozen meals friends prepared for me so I could take it easy. I'm also trying to keep up daily walks, aiming for at least a mile every day.
I'm still waiting for the results of my bone marrow biopsy to come back. I might hear back as soon as tomorrow. They're also concerned that my neutrophil and platelet counts keep dropping. Although this is somewhat expected from the CAR-T, it's a little more than they're comfortable with. As a result, I'm very vulnerable to infections and bleeding. I've been coordinating with my Stanford and Kaiser teams to set up labs twice a week as well as weekly dressing changes for my picc line. Because there's a chance I might need a blood transfusion, the labs need to be done at the Kaiser Oakland Oncology clinic, rather than nearby at the Kaiser Berkeley lab which is only four blocks away. Unfortunately, for now Kaiser Berkeley isn't set up to do transfusions or change dressings on picc lines.
I'm mostly staying home (except for walks and trips to Kaiser) and keeping a low profile.
Following the Yellow Brick Road... My garden path strewn with flowers from my Golden Trumpet Tree (Tabebiua). Also, I came home to see one of my epiphyllums on the deck in bloom as well as the last of my Exbury azaleas.
